Apply acyclovir gel (Zovirax®) to the affected skin for 5 minutes. Avoid rubbing in acyclovir gel. If cream is not effective, contact your healthcare provider.
Using acyclovir cream for 5 days may result in healing. The duration of treatment depends on the type of herpes zoster outbreak you have. Follow your healthcare provider’s instructions for dosing.
Use acyclovir gel and apply the cream to the affected area every 4 hours for 5 days. If cream is not effective, continue treatment with IV for another 4 days.
